Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) shifts training focus from time served to demonstrated competencies. In India the National Medical Commission notified CBME for MBBS in 2019 and postgraduate CBME under PGMER-2023, defining core, specialty and sub-specialty competencies each resident must achieve before exit.
