What PGMER 2023 covers
The regulations span admissions, curriculum, faculty qualifications, assessment, logbook, thesis and exit examinations. Every NMC-recognised PG programme is bound by them.
This page focuses on the parts that directly touch documentation — because those are where MSR and NMC inspections hit hardest.
Logbook requirements at a glance
PGMER 2023 requires a competency-based logbook maintained continuously through the programme, reviewed at least monthly by the faculty in charge, and produced for inspection on demand. Entries must cover cases, procedures, seminars, journal clubs, teaching activities and thesis work.
Assessment framework
The regulations mandate both formative (workplace-based, ongoing) and summative (end-of-year, exit) assessment. Formative includes direct observation of procedures, case-based discussions, mini-CEX and multi-source feedback — each of which must be documented in the logbook.
Thesis and rotation norms
The thesis timeline, sample size, guide-review milestones and submission format are all prescribed. Rotations across allied specialties are mandated with minimum durations. Your logbook needs to show all of it, per resident.
